When buying bulldogs from breeders, don't trust the picture of the pup, but see the whole litter by yourself.
These animals are very affectionate and friendly, and they are relatively easy to care for. There are two most popular varieties: French and English. English species are larger in size, and they feature thick skin, big round eyes and heavy muscle. The Frenchies seem to be more active and playful, and they have characteristic bat-like ears. They also have well-muscled bodies, but they are smaller than their English counterparts. They are fond of toying with things, and they cannot do without interaction with humans.

It may be difficult for a novice owner to deal with these large and powerful dogs, so they are not recommended as first time pets, especially for families with children. A dog adopted from a rescue can be a good alternative. Breed education is vital for every perspective owner of such dogs. Puppies of this breed may be difficult to housebreak and train. To be a success, the owner should be consistent and firm, but kind. It’s important to praise the pup every time it performs everything right. Positive motivation works best with these dogs; praise for correct behavior works better than punishment for incorrect behavior.
